Hand-harvested Semillon & Sauvignon Blanc from a village directly across from Sauternes & Barsac. Grapes are fully affected by botrytis. This dessert wine is a lot like Sancerre at half the price: honey, peaches, apricots, orange marmalade...
From the sunny, seaside port of Cassis: organic, estate-grown Marsanne, Ugni blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc from avg 40 yr old vines planted on limestone & clay. Nose of Provençal herbs, anise, & acacia; dry, honeyed, with notes of apricot & white peach.
Subtle notes of honeysuckle, vanilla, orange zest...a little bit wooly; broad & lightly polished on the palate, with building, concentrated minerality & a bit of grip on the finish. A slam-dunk for Chenin lovers. Organic.
This Rolle, as Vermentino is known in southern France, is a very fine example with a perfumed nose of fruits and flowers. On the palate, the balance between lightness and fat gives it a beautiful presence that oscillates between richness and elegance.
